CV Bernd Leinenbach
I was born and raised in Germany as a native speaker of German. An early interest in traveling and in foreign countries prompted me to give it my all when I started studying English at school.
I subsequently decided on a career as an interpreter and enrolled in a course on interpreting studies at the university in Heidelberg in Germany. During my studies I spent nine months each in the U.S. and in Brazil. In 1992 Heidelberg University awarded me a degree in interpreting for English and Portuguese.
My first full-time job after graduating was as a translator with the Namibian embassy to Germany. I stayed with the embassy for two years, but as my training was actually not in written translations but in interpreting I decided to go freelance in 1994.
I have since been pursuing my freelance career with a strong focus on economics, particularly management and labour relations. But really, the freelance world has required me to work in all sorts of fields. For more detail on this, please see the sections on past assignments and testimonials.
As I am married to an Irish citizen I have ample opportunity both of constantly improving my English and of spending extended periods of time in Ireland.
