Simultaneous Interpreting
In simultaneous interpreting, translation runs alongside the speaker’s presentation or speech. For best quality of the translation, the ► interpreters need to clearly hear the speaker. Acoustic equipment helps here, of course.
However, as the interpreters are physically separated from the conference participants and communicate with them only through acoustic equipment, the result is a bit like a video conference. It is very efficient but rather impersonal. Where speed is not so essential and you need a more personal touch, you might want to opt for ► consecutive interpreting.
